Support clean water rights for every human being everywhere!
For a lot of us in this side of the world, we don't really think about water or the scarcity of it. We hear about the environmental changes but the extent of our concern about it can be quite...limited. But when you hear about how children die of water-related diseases every minute of every day, or reports on how 1 out of 9 people don't have access to safe water, it makes us wonder how we could be living comfortably, when there are people out there who need our support. This has been going on for a while. In fact, in 2011, ABC News already reported about the movement, Water.org, and the advocacy to bring water to people who need help in gaining access to it:
"The figures are staggering: Nearly a billion people -- one in eight people worldwide -- lack access to safe, clean drinking water, mostly in large portions of Africa and South Asia, and about 2.5 billion are without proper sanitation. More than 3 million people die every year from water-related disease, with a child dying every 20 seconds due to lack of clean water and sanitation. "It's really hard for people like us to relate to it, because it's just never been something we had to think about," (Actor Matt) Damon told "This Week" anchor Christiane Amanpour. "Clean water is only as far away as the nearest tap, and there are taps everywhere. There's a faucet everywhere. But the reality is, the water in our toilets is cleaner than the water that most people are drinking."Let's support clean water rights for every human being everywhere!
